A trip through time.

On Saturday Sarah went to a 4-H event at Cornell and left Emmett and I to fend for ourselves.  We managed to feed ourselves and take naps and were, therefore, feeling pretty confident, so we headed out to the Paleontological Research Institute for the afternoon.  We checked in with Sarah B first and got to ride a fiberglass horse, play in the saw dust, and meet some cool horses and nice people.

Emmett's not been to too many museums yet, so it was fun to see how excited he got about stuff.  There weren't that many people there and most of the stuff is made of rocks, so I felt pretty comfortable letting him crawl around.  Of course, the first thing he did was crawl under a barrier and sit on a display.

I'd never seen him do this before.  He crawled up to the edge, pulled himself up, turned around and sat up on the edge so that his feet were off the ground.  Not much to remark on for a regular person, but for a mini person, it was pretty cool.  He must have felt the texture of two dozen different rocks, minerals, and fossils.
In this picture, he is checking out a section of ancient sea floor with echinoderm fossils.  (I read it as echidna first, and was super confused.)

The Dude took the fossil bucket station very seriously.  What he lacked in knowledge he made up for in throwing.

We put a puzzle on the floor.

We came very near putting this very large cast of a tyrannosaurus skull on the floor as well.

Super into the sponges.

Could have watched the fish all day.

After the museum we met up with the mama for dinner.  Chops slept all the way home, pooped from another big day.

This morning was rainy and cold, which was a perfect excuse to cuddle on the couch.  As I wrap up the blog, the two of them have returned to their original position.  Hope y'all had a nice weekend.
