Enjoying the Connection

So this is a pretty cool moment.  Horses are naturally cautious animals with two real interests in life; eating and being left alone.  Obviously, Rambo has put being near Sarah ahead of his natural inclination.  Pretty cool.

Pat took these pictures of us on the boys last weekend.  It's pretty rare and cool for us to have photos together on the horses as there's rarely a third person with us.

Let's head home, ke-mo sah-bee.

Beautiful pictures. Looks so peaceful in the snowy woods. Do the horses notice/mind the snow at all?

The enjoyment that you and Sarah get from your horses is so awesome. That you also enjoy and go out willingly into the cold is somewhat of a mystery to me but I wish I could like it also. Assume you are off school again today also? Counting the days! Hope the weather will cooperate.

Ian, your pictures and words are lovely. I wish we could go out for coffee or a beer and chat in person. I'm glad you're sticking to your "Family Day Saturday" thing. You're lucky to have such a lovely and healthy family.

Adam, thanks for the compliment. The horses don't seem to mind the snow anymore than anything else. The thing they really don't like is wind. I think wind and noise is really hard on prey animals. They can't really tune stuff out the way that predators can, and it makes them very stressed and spooky.

Mom, yes, we're off again. Don't know if it's number 4 or 5, but it's a lot. The horses are a lovely responsibility. I wish we could ride them everyday, and I look forward to keeping a pair on our own property someday. What I learn from working with them transcends many parts of my life. We're looking forward to seeing you guys. too.
