More Greek Stuff

the key to ian's door... ridiculous, but i'm slightly jealous.

 a motorcycle i liked

 a boat.

 scooters

the one cool piece of graffiti in thesolaniki... too lazy and tired for spell checking

 teleport down.

 cool masonry.
 this thing.

 feeling like indiana jones.

 even more so, now.

still.

ian doing his best to look super greeky

cute dog.  odd, but not bad lighting.  didn't realize how the shadows would look.  the dog is not really the subject of the photo, but it's an interesting shot anyway.  you were right, mom.

 pretentiously placed scooter.

umm.... yeah.  dad has relaxed a lot in his retirement.  i think that's a good thing.
got zeus's address.  went to pay him a visit.  couldn't find him either.

the white tower. formerly a prison and torture tower... now a really nice museum.

 pigeon
 pigeon design
thesolaniki... even more too lazy and tired to look up the spelling right now.  at any rate, it is a big, crowded, busy city. but it is right on the beautiful aegean

 fun with negative space.

ooooh, old bricks and painted numbers

 good food and good friends.

 hooked on numbers

beautiful views if you could ignore the antennae and power lines.

the castle at the top of the hill... also, where ian and eleftheria got married.

 my folks are so cute!

everything started out well, but then...

 things got weird.

 the morning after.

 the aftermath.

 mother and father scooter action.

 mother in law scooter action.

strange, but acceptable.  he really doesn't know how to shave still.  where the face meets the neck, ian.

more weird greek traditions.  at least he wasn't married yet here

A quick list of things that my boss said to me over dinner last night

In response to me saying that I thought the new volunteers sounded good via e-mail:
"Keith, you have to assume they all wear black socks with their shorts and sandals until you see otherwise."

His advice for managing the camp:
"Your my CEO, so act like a CEO.  Be a little more corporate and less governmental."
and
"A gentle administrator can be effective... but Jimmy Carter was a gentle administrator and you know how that turned out... One term."

On his soon to be son in law asking for advice and life lessons:
"I'm not Dr. F***ing Phil for christ's sake."

And in response to one of my plans:
"It's all well and fine to expect one thing, but you need to plan for the other, too... cuz it's not going to work"

He's a peach.  Gonna be fun.

This is what it's all about

There is a lot to recount about my first trip to Greece, but when you boil it all down, this is what the whole trip was about; two families and dozens of friends all coming together to celebrate the love and devotion of two people who we all love and are devoted to.  The warmest wishes, best of luck, and longest, happiest marriage to Ian and Eleftheria.  From one of those who loves you both.
