i've been wanting to try sailing for some time now. i tried to find a company that gave lessons on lake mead but no luck yet. is this a friend's boat or through a company?
the lessons were through the Cornell sailing center, it's actually open to the public. And you can buy a membership and sail on their boats!!! It really was one of the coolest activities i have ever ventured into. on the second day i was captain during our most extreme weather of the 3 days. 15-17mph winds, lake sized white caps, and me standing on the side of the lazarette (bench) opposite me pulling the tiller (steering stick)tight to my chest, trying to hang on as the boat was heeling from a gust of wind! Very exciting! You would love it! Come to Ithaca and we'll go sailing girl!
